"I've seen a side of Linda's
teaching skills that not everyone is aware - she has an uncanny ability
to bring out the best in all kinds of dogs, including those not
blazingly fast, and to encourage handlers to get the best performances
out of their team, despite the handler's limitations. She allows
her students to use the handling maneuvers that work best for them
and their dogs, to get the fastest, best lines, to try out new things
and to learn to think for themselves, and she is always positive.
She doesn't expect everyone to run a sequence the same. Sometimes
I think her reputation is as a trainer of world team caliber people, and
that is certainly true; she helps them shave seconds off their times,
and she's had many extremely successful people as her students.
But what many people don't know is the great job she does with the more
average competitor. But, then again, maybe I shouldn't let that
secret get out." Mary Ann Chappelear |
