The tire is the only jumping obstacle in agility that is not displaceable. As a result, the tire can be a very dangerous obstacle. Dogs that are well-trained to perform this obstacle sometimes make mistakes and the tire is very unforgiving if so.

The technology exists for tires that are displaceable. There are many different designs including this one from Denmark and this one from Smart 99.  Please write to your respective agility organizations and encourage them to consider adopting a displaceable tire design for the safety of our dogs.
